need advice on pup asap
help please. have a real nice four month old pup that got her head caught between shed and doghouse. she laid awhile. havent heard her bark usally mouthy. happened today ninth. tried to get her to bark but she couldnt or wouldnt any advice? vet was closed should i wait a day or so or call vet now? thanks
pup
if you can i would get her checked out at the vet soon as possable
Depending on how long she was hung up she is prolly dehydrated, I'd try to make sure to get some electrolytes in her, maybe she'd drink a sport drink that has them in it, you might have to mix it with water. As long as she eats and drinks I'd prolly wait until Monday to take her if it doesn't appear to be life threatning.
I'd go as soon as possible. I had a 7 week old pup do the same thing but it was his arm instead of his head. He ended up dislocating his elbow. I took him to the vet and they were able to re-set it and it grew back just fine and he's healthy as can be. If you must wait, like BlueMoonJake said it's probally a little dehydrated. The unflavored Pedialyte works very well with dehydrated dogs. It will also help fight hypoglycemia if your dog hasn't ate/or won't eat.

Glad to hear your pup is doing fine. Being a farmer I seen more than a couple animals get hung up, cattle, horses and a couple of deer, also found a hound with a chain hung in a hog wire fence. Some animals, especially younger ones seem to get a little excited and go into varying degrees of shock, dehyrdration is a huge factor in full sun and warm temperatures. Electrolytes often go a long way in helping stabilizing and improving an animals condition.
The hound we found was skin and bones, you could see his vertebrae, he was so week he would weave and wobble walking. He was peeing blood. We put the gatorade to him and started him on 12 of food twice a day and gave him 12cc of tetracycaline and he came out of it. He couldn't bark for almost a month. We asked everyone around if it was their hound and put signs up at quick trips and the feed store, no one claimed him, it's been over 6 months, we sure like hunting him.
