I use concrete, and in the summer time,i have a rubber mats for them to lay on,so far they don't have any sores from laying around or foot problems, and i usually don't have to trim toenails, the concrete keeps them wore down.

Something Different

I have used it all, but my present kennel is made out of treated wood, and is off the ground. I'm not sure how long it will last, but so far it works really well. It is much easier to stay clear of parasites, and seems to be "Good" to their feet. This is my first kennel like this, so time will tell.

Concrete is awful hard to beat, as far as durability and keeping clean.

8 x 16 pavers

I used the 8 x 16 pavers for floors in 3 (5 x 15 runs) for right at 200-250. These pavers cost 47 cents each at home depot. Make sure you level the area under them well or they crack. Once placed sweep a few bags of quickrete over the area wet and let dry, this makes a good solid pad for about 1/3 of the cost of concrete.
