I think every dog is a little differant.you have to try each dog,and go with what works.some dogs dont go good on botteled scent and other dogs you can fool a little.I had a grand nite champion female that wouldnt run a drag as a pup but would tree coons consistantly.good luck.

How old is your pup?

I dont put a shocker on a dog under a year old...or when they're starting out, too much temptation to grab the shocker.

As for scents, I dont think they work. I find it hard to believe they can bottle the exact scent of a particular animal. Most are urine based, which break down immediately after being released from the animal.

Live animal breaking is your best bet. Porcupine dens are easy enough to find. Fresh deer are easy to do a turn out on usually, I've even heard of people using goats for deer breaking and I guess it works. Fox and yote are tougher but they can be trapped.

I notice you're close by so if you're having a porcupine problem I have a very active den you can use with your dog.

Nothing like the real thing in my opinion, especially when you can set him up and make him think you had nothing to do with it.

Cut him into some deer, light him up like you mean it, then treat him like nothing ever happened when he come cowering in.

Make him think the deer are the boogie man and your the greatest guy in the world. JMO, wd.
