training help

my redbone pup is about 9 months old, lately he is acting like coon scent isn't that interesting but he will still trail to the tree but he won't stay at the tree he just comes back to me just wondering if anyone could help me get past this issue cause I have never trained a dog before

start using a real coon..turn it loose where he can see it run away..when the coon gets out of sight from the pup, turn the pup loose and let it get after it..just keep doing this till he gets the job done..

thanks I'll try that, I had that thought but wasn't sure if I would be going too far but it may get his interest back plus he hasn't seen a live coon yet

blueticking: it

bad advice never knock a coon out on a dog i have seena falling coon cripple a hound permanently. if you knock a coon out always tie your hound back out of the way of the falling coon.
i would like to know how do you determine how rough a coon is befoe he comes out i have also seen a tough coon rip a pup up to the point they have a fear of coons remember he said this pup never has seen a live coon
