bark collar on pup question

has anyone ever used a bark collar on a 6 month old pup? i have one that is barking in the pen constantly during the day and is staying hoarse all the time. i am afraid she is going to ruin her voice if it continues. dont know if i should use a bark collar on her so young.

They are old enough for one at that age.

Go ahead and put one on her.

be careful

condition her by starting off with your collar on low, increase as needed.

If they are not smart enough to figure out at 6 months that the reason they are getting shocked is because they are barking, then move them on down the line.

I have a 5 1/2 month old pup,

that I put a bark collar on 2 days ago. I put a fresh battery in it & put it on him & when he barked he would look down like it was tickling him but it wouldn't stop his barking. I had it plenty tight & worked it back & forth so it made good contact, but it didn't stop him from barking. Yesterday I put the shocking collar on him & the 1 & 2 settings didn't stop him from barking, so I put it on 3 & he felt that. I didn't hold it down, I would just bump the button, & I think he is getting the idea that barking in the pen is a NO NO.

I live at the edge of town & it's the dogs & cats running loose in the neighborhood that he is barking at. His littermate & the 2 older females will bark occasionally, but he is always looking for something to bark at.

Bark collar's

John not saying the other guy isn't right, but I did my dog the same way you did. all dogs are not alike, some dogs you can't stop with a bark collar. some I have to do It with a tri-tronic trash breaker.
I live In a group of nit picking neighbors, that as you say let cats , and dogs run loose all the time, and wonder why mine barks.

Just my opinion
