Ever sold a dog then....
wished you could kick yourself in the rear later for doing so. The last topic I replied to got me to thinking about an English gyp that was given to me for my first coonhound. I got her when she was a little over a year old and the ol feller told me she would tree coon the first night I took her. Well she didnt and found out later that she only been to the woods 2 times before I got her. After about 2-3 months of pounding her in the woods it just out of the blue happened. My friends dogs were treed and she was there standing like she didnt know what the heck was going on then when the coon came out of the tree she just happened to be the one in the way. After a few really good nips on the ear the coon managed to get up another tree a few yards away and fortunately the other dogs were still tied to the original tree and didnt get to kill it before my gyp commenced to treeing the living heck out of that coon. And the rest as they say is history. Well at the time she was dead silent on a track, didnt make no difference if she was on a hot track or not no mouth on a track whatsoever. If she barked she was as good as treed. From that first tree I had her about 6 months and swear I never seen her on an empty tree by herself or honoring another dog it didnt matter, although she didnt tree every time out and never had the first trash run with her either. A guy heard about her and offered a nice chunk of change and before I knew it I was training a new dog. Thank goodness I keep my head pretty much shaved cause I'm sure I'd have pulled it all out by now. After 2 duds I bought a blue bitch about 4 months ago and think I am completely satisfied finally. I wont say I'll never sell her (I never say never) but for now I'm definatly going to enjoy her aa much as possible and hope she remain a part of our family for many years to come. Sorry for rambling but I was just wondering if anyone else truely regretted selling a dog and wished they had it back. I SURE DO ! ! !
I got a walker dog for christmas and he was doin ok, treein with other dogs and then I got the bright idea to sell him, and the first night after I sold him, he split treed twice and had the meat both times. I almost died. Then bought two littermate SS pups was trainin em and one turned out and the other didn't. I got burnt out on the trainin and puppy stuff so I sold him, after about 6 months the guy that I sold him and got a puppy and 1000 bucks for him. I don't know if he was worth it or not, but I sure wish someone would have given me that for him. Just my experiences.

Never Regretted Selling One
Regretted not buying on
Tried a walker female and she did an excellant job but a den tree and then after two hours of mucking through swamp she left a tree before we got there. I told the guy lets try her again tomarrow night and I'll give you half now and then decide. The guy came by later in the day and gave me my money back.... he had sold her. Friend called and said "why didn't you get that dog" I said she did a nice job but we never saw a coon. I asked for another night of trial. Friend said dog is sold and you missed a good one.
Too bad there aint a six month trial LOL
