-- What Will You Do Judge? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928301671)
What Will You Do Judge?
You are the judge on a four-dog cast. On the first drop of the night Dogs A, B and C are declared struck and treed. Dog D has not been declared struck. The tree is closed. When you are twenty yards from the tree you turn your light on the tree and see all four dogs, including Dog D (which you can also hear), treeing on the same tree. What's your next move?
If you choose option 4: Please explain further.
Have fun with it.

ASK FOR A CALL IN CASE DOG DOES NOT STAY AT THE TREE IF HE DOES DELETE STRIKE AND SCORE TREE

GOOD ANWSER STEADMAN U SOUND LIKE U KNOW THE RULES .

i would call for a strick on dog D and score tree and give dog D what he had coming to him by the rules for the tree because he was there when i walked into tree, so he could end up _ both ways. and i would remind the handler that his dog needs to be struck on or before the 3rd bark .
Allen you should do this more often.

Well we know the dog is opening but has not been struck, and we know the dog was at the tree and treeing before the cast arrived, Assigning strike and minusing them and requiring the handler to strike seems correct because then the dog can be held responsible for tree points as well.

Option 2, if time is in, dogs must be struck on or before the third bark no matter the sittuation.

If coon is found dog should be minused tree too. Just like when you don't tree your dog.

stop ask for a call, after 3 barks award 25 strike and minus, then ask for call again, if no call dog is to be scratched, if called 25 with a line under it, if tree time is up you can not call the dog on closed tree.

well been away from comp hunts the last couple years but would tell the handler he needs to get struck in then proceed to tree and have all dogs handled would draw a line through strike points(since he was shut out) and proceed to shine and score tree accordingly with dog D being awarded next available tree points which if coon seen would be minused

Option 2 you are not minusing him for being at the tree you minusing him because he was not struck in on or before the 3rd bark.

It's no wonder there are so many arguments in the hunts.
Dog does not go in for 125 tree points unless handler treed on closed tree.
Dog does not get misused tree if coon is seen.
Dog could only receive minus on strike because he was not struck on or before 3rd bark

I'm going to half to go with the redbone guy from iowa cause he is 100% right
dog
when dog comes into tree that he was shut out on delete points. which he never had any and he cant be struck in if another dog has been declared treed unless he splits so he cant be awarded any minus or plus strike points, but judge see's him barking, if they come into closed tree they get minus on track and nothing on tree if coon is seen (which he has no strike points). I say delete points

If I'm judging this cast and I dont know a 4th dog is at the tree until we are 20 yards from it I would stop and ask for a call. If no call was immediately made I would minus the dog 25 strike pts and ask for another call.
Then I would score the tree and dog D's strike/tree points accordingly (Dog D's strike points would be deleted)
