withdrawing
What's your thoughts on W.Drawing from a cast and leaving a dog alone when your behind with little chance of coming back, is it good sportsmanship or is it screwing the rest of the cast? Or is it part of the sport with answer?

Should say screwing the rest of the cast's
You are allowing that dog to earn points that the other dogs had to compete for.

if you are to point of withdrawing for what ever reason you might as well do it. if you are getting whooped by a coondog then he still gona tree coons with or without you. if its for a mean dog that you can not catch then no since in you getting your dog eat up..theres all kinds of reasons. point is if the thought has crossed your mind then do it, yea a dog by itself will get first strike an first tree, but that will also alow him to make mistakes he might not make with another dog in woods

I always thought it was dumb when a handler gets mad and withdraws in the last 10 mins. Its usually the judge and then they refuse to go back to the club. Then I'm stuck 50 miles from club wondering how to get back before the deadline.Thats happened to me several times.
Never withdraw. It's called COMPITITION HUNTING.
i WAS on a 3 dog cast in a RQE with 20mins to go me and another guy had minus the other dog had 550+ we with drew and told him he could walk it out. he said he wanted to hunt, so 20 mins later he minused out backwards, he was greaty wanted a big scored, and he got it it was just all in the minus department,,,
I will withdraw in a hart beat if I know I cant win. Most of the time it is in the last few minutes of a cast. Just handled the dogs off of a tree, mine is on the leash and I cant win with 10 minutes left. I'm not turning loose just to catch my dog a hour later and a mile deeper. I have never did it to get out of someones way, I have done it to save me some grief.

Is it unsportsmanlike to withdraw when you know you can't win or is it unsportsmanlike to stay in the cast when you know you can't win?
That's the question
I am all for with drawing if I can't win. I feel it's good sportsman ship to get outta the way if I'm whooped. I don't mind getting beat by a dog trying coons.

If you are going to let him walk out the last twenty mins why would you bother to withdraw?
But like was stated above its against the rules.

Why would you want to walk more and stop him from achieving what he just beat you at? Take your loses like a man, in most cases the last guy left in situations like stated above with the high score honestly deserves it.
