new coon hunter need help

just got my first hound a 5 yo redbone F the man i got her from said she was a real good dog both mom and dad was world champ he said he lost the papers he said papers never treed a coon i have had her out 7 times nevers left my side yet i guess she need to get used to me i saw a coon last night took her to the tree when i shot it out she ran back to the truck should i tier her first from now on

yeah sounds like you got took always hunt with a dog before you buy it i learned the hard way to never take anybodies word that the dog is a coondog see for yourself before you start forking over them 100 dollar bills but thats jmo

by the way welcome aboard the coonhunting train dont let this discourage you i got took on the first 2 dogs i bought but i learned my lesson just hang in there and save your money there are alot more good honest houndsmen out there than crooks

MAN NEVER EVER BUY A HOUND ON SOMEONES WORD. THE GUY MOST LIKELY STARTED AT $600.00 SO HE COULD GET AS MUCH AS HE COULD FOR THE DOG AND SOUNDS TO ME HE DID JUST THAT. THE FACT IS 5 YEAR OLD COON DOGS ARE NOT $200.00. WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS COON TREEING DOGS NOT STAND AT YOUR FEET DOGS ARE NOT CHEAP AND MAN I AM NOT TRYING TO BE AN ASS JUST TELLING YOU THE WAY IT IS.

man it just sounds like the guy lied to you! If he said it would tree a coon and it stays by your side and didn't tree coons then you got ripped off. Best thing I could tell ya is to take her back to the guy and get your money back!

where do u live i have a dog 4 u to hunt if your close to ohio dont buy a dog unless u trie it good luck dont quit huntn if the dog does not tree coon at that age buy another one but take it out and watch and lisen tree a coon if it trees let him tree 4 15 minutes see if it stays treed one nt. they look good next nt, could b a difernet story
