Old Sackett
This isnt a Sackett Jr. thread.
Anyone know of any OTHER pups from Old Sackett?
In all the dogs pedigrees Ive heard about,or seen, never have noticed any from him other than Jr.
He had 300 some odd pups,a small handful were titled, but even with the enormous popularity of Jr.
I would think even if anyone had a littermate to Jr. they would be quick to jump to brag.
Maybe they ended up behind an old timers barn,or not campaigned,I dont know.
I can see how Jr.is so popular, but not without hearing of any other pups from his sire,or his littermates.

Don't know of any off Sackett.
But , Sackett was a half-brother to Jim Meeks Yadkin River Champ dog. ( Both out of Crowder )
I had a female off of Champ that was as tough as they come. Used her on coon and bear both. Alot of dog in a 45 lb package !
Raised 2 litters from her , kept 2 pups each. ( 1 died young )
Made coondogs , but wouldn't run a bear.

My little boy asked me that question and it's been bugging me ever since.
I appreciate it.

I hunted with old Sackett, and I hunted with a couple dogs out of him too.
One male was a heck of a kill dog and I often make reference to him. Him and my old female caught 6 coons in 2 nights on the ground in honest to goodness full running wide open corn field races. The neat thing about the male was he would bring each dead coon all the way back to us at the truck. My female was a fast track dog, but terrible at fighting coon. The two together made one heck of a team.

The reason I hunt this bloodlines is a quote an old friend gave me,"Your either making dust or your eating it."
Old Sackett
Old Sackett had 361 pups 3 grand nite champions 14 nt. champions. Gr. Nt. Ch. Yadkin River Rock owned by Bill Hawley of Michigan was off old Sackett. Old Sackett sired other good hounds that were never hunted in the hunts. One thing for sure he sired Sackett Jr. and Jr. was one of the most dominate reproducers the walker breed has ever had. No doubt Old Sackett being a double shot of Yadkin River Jeff played a big part in Jr.s reproduction ability. Everything I own goes back to old Sackett several times without a drop of Sackett Jr. blood anywhere. I’ve hunted with old Sackett many times both when he was a young pup and later when he was older. He was a tough go hunting dog that could tree a coon under any conditions in any terrain and was a stay-put tree dog that was very accurate. Call Frank Giddings and ask him if this is true. I also hunted with most of old Sackett’s littermates as well as his Sire, Dam, Grand Sire, Grand Mother and many other relatives. Old Sackett had way better than average dogs behind him that’s for sure.

I am not doubting his ability,or his bloodline one bit.
I just couldnt recall knowing of any of his offspring other than obviously,Jr.
I think he deserves credit, even though Jr. steals the spotlight.

Kinda makes you wonder what the impact of Skean's Dolly really played in the reproductive ability.....
I hunted with one off "old Sackett" and he was about as common as they come.

Just because you don't hear about a stud dogs sons and daughters doesn't mean they didn't reproduce. More than likely most of Sackett's pups didn't fall into comp hunters hands.
