??? Cost effective Tape Worm treatment

What is the best way to treat tape worms in my hounds. I use ivomectin monthly for other worms but it dont seem to help with tape or whip. Any ideas? What you guys use and does it work?

i got some stuff fro the co-op cant remember the name but it was in powder form and it was a three day treatment. cost about 16 bucks for a three day treatment.

I have repeatly said time and time after time Fenbendazole DOES NOT get both tapes.
You need Praziquantel.The cheapest way to buy it is as the pills For Fish Tapes.34mg tab.Around 30bucks for 30 tabs.The regular dog pills will run 25-30 bucks for a 5 dose bottle.Use 4 tabs for a 50-60lb dog.Get rid of the worm source and I promise you the tape worm problem will be solved.

Incidently the ivermectin will get the whips.You may have to increase the dosage for getting them depending on the dosage you are currently using.

Fenbendazole Vs Praziquantel Facts

Fenbendazole labels say the kill tapes and they do but only certain types. NOT ALL TYPES . Praziquantel kills them all fast.

III. Tapeworms
Basics
Tapeworms are caused by the pet eating/swallowing fleas carrying the tapeworm eggs. This is the only way to get tapeworms, by eating infected fleas. Tapeworms crawl out of the anus, and are found crawling on fresh stools. They are very itchy, and cause the pet to drag their rears on the ground to scratch. These worms are not dangerous, and cause no other real harm to the pet. They just "gross out" owners, and cause rear end itchiness.

We kill these worms with Praziquantel (Cestex, Droncit). We can give this drug to kill the tapeworms, but if the fleas on the pet are not killed/removed/addressed, the pet will have tapeworms again in about another month.

Specifics

Tapeworm infections of the small intestines of dogs and cats are caused by Taenia pisiformis, and Dipylidium caninum. Taeniids are transmitted by predation of rabbits or rodents, Dipylidium is flea-vectored with flea maggots picking up tapeworm eggs in dog or cat feces and transmitted by adult fleas when ingested by dogs or cats. There is no apparent harm done to the dog or cat by tapeworms except for perianal pruritus. Owners find the tapeworm segments unsightly, as they crawl from the anus periodically and stick to the pet's hairs.

Clinical signs include: dragging or rubbing the anus on the ground, and visible tapeworm segments on the feces. Causes or risk factors are eating viscera of rabbits or rodents, and fleas in the environment.

Treatment for tapeworms is with Praziquantel (Droncit) 5mg/kg once. Tapeworms are often described as looking like "grains of rice". They are flat, usually ½" or shorter, and can be seen crawling out of the rectum, or moving on freshly defecated stool.

I am right about this am I not, or is it 16.86 for a bottle of 10 tablets?

Plus I ordered some PG-600 it should be here tommarow. I am going to call ya, for a little advice on how to admister it, if the female does come in heat, which I hope she does, I will be heading over to get 3 or more males collected if possible.

I worm with ivamec one month then the next month worm them with about 2 in a half to 3 cc's of zemectrin gold. Works pretty good no problems.

Did you have that Chinese Praziquantel tested in any way? I remember a previous thread talking about it - before you got the first order in that you were going to test it (i think) and was just wondering if it was truly legit and actually 200mg per pill? If so that is just an absolutely insane cheap price for it!
