Harpers' Stonecold Bluetick Kennel

I have changed my thread name to the name I use on my dogs. I call each of my dogs, 'Stonecold Blue ______'. Our hunting lights have the Stonecold Bluetick stickers, and my wife even had me a hoodie made for Christmas. LOL....Anyway, Ive been wanting to do this for a long while, just haven't. With the foundation being my "Beavercreek Stonecold Blue Bozo" dog. Bozo goes back to Sextons Jimmy, by way of Phil Vogels Scooter dog. Bo's bottom side is OLD Utchman blood. Also, Bo's Paternal Grandma is Brotherton blood.

Ive got some brotherton and scooter blood here too.I hunted with Bill Brotherton when he was still around.His dogs were known for there mouths and most of them were sharp looking dogs too.His dogs are the reason I hunt blues to this day.My old nite champ female is 100% brotherton,shes probably the last of the real strong brotherton blood.Ive got a son and grandson of hers here too.Youve got some nice looking dogs with some good blood behind them.

I hunted with the Sally dog alot.She was a lighter blue with just black on her head and base of her tail.She was a medium sized female with a real nice mouth.She always seemed to get hurt every time we tried to hunt her hard.

Took Bingo last night, bout 930. He managed to get an old track going, and treed a den. Went fueled up, got snacks, wasted about an hour, turned loose again. This time another cold track and den. Took the dog home went to sleep. Woke up at 2am, took Bingo back out and treed 2 coon in 2 drops. Moved late last night!!>>>Jim

Been treeing a bunch of coon with the Bingo dog. If all goes well, I will hunt him in his first nite hunt next weekend. The weekends are the hardest for me to get free, but Bingo is ready. Supposed to get a lot of rain this week, but I plan on hunting him as much as possible.

Im still waiting on Hope to come in heat. She just turned 2. I got her back last year, and I dont have any idea of her past cycles. So, just have to wait and watch. I got a male pup that runs the farm, Im sure hell let me know. LOL.....She is a littermate to Bingo. Independent, LOUD...sounds like her brother. I got some plans for her.

Going to try the HTX hunt in Holden, MO next month. Bingo got his first taste of a ROUGH dog this weekend, so I won't be hunting him in any more nite-hunts for awhile. Bingo is a nice young dog, without a mean hair on him and I don't want him ruined. I did enjoy myself in Nebraska Friday. Good guys and a super nice club. Very family-friendly. This would be a great place to hold a bigger hunt in my opinion.

Also, forgot to mention that I WILL be having semen drawn on Bingo for our won personal use. They're will be a couple females bred AI. One is a John II female, and the other is a heavy Smokey River female, from southern MO. I am not sure of the SR females pedigree, but I will post when I know for sure. The Turk female won't be bred right away. ......Again, this is being done for our own personal use and knowledge. We intend on using Bingo for a long time, but feel we should, 'do our homework', in regards to his pups. >>>>Jim Harper

HopeXBullet II

I am close to selling half interest in my Hope female. She has come on well and shows to be VERY independent. I had looked at several dogs to breed her to and have decided that her first breeding will be to her maternal Grandfather, Bullet II. Our fingers are crossed on this one. These pups would be heavy SR with a touch of Utchman. When cross is made, and I am sure she took, I will post more on this. Til then, she will continue to be hunted. We have every intention of putting Hope in the hunts next Spring. She was just recently started good and we want a season on her first. Any opinions on this are welcome.>>>>Jim Harper

Haven't had Bingo in the woods as much lately as normal. Taking him tonight, coon been moving. Taking my son, Chase and plan on a good night. Chase, 5 years old, can handle Bingo with ease. He's quite the helper! Love the nights that the kids go. Makes it all worth while!

Took Bingo and a young male I have been messing with a little. He's almost a year old, and he's going to be nice! Went a couple nights ago and didn't have the night I was expecting, but took the two of them tonight and made a drop. Sent them North and at 65 yards Bingo opened, moved it out and I hear the pup locate! When Bingo opened again, he was treed. The pup treed for about a minute and a half, then come down, take it all in and go back to treeing. After a couple pats to the head, he got with it! Hard, deep chop. Rewarded the dogs and brought them home. I was gone about 45 minutes. Not a bad night. Plus, we just missed the rain. >>>Jim Harper
