Keeping a hound in the house?

Wanting to know everyone's opinions on keeping a hound in the house? I've kept my male in the house since I got him and it doesn't seem to hurt his drive in the woods. Has anyone else had problems doing it? Or is it more of a personal preference, like kenneling or chain spots?

Doesn't seem to bother my finished dogs, but when they are young they are outside.

Hounds in the house still hunt good ,but what I’ve seen is when one has been raised in the house they get aggressive tendencies. Everything is fine till you take a house raised dog to it’s first hunt or first hunt with strange dogs just pleasure hunting. Not all ,but a lot of them will be growly around strange dogs and sometimes even growl at people. This problem is even worse if that house raised dog is the only dog the person owns.

Wade I’ve noticed that my male is a bit growly with people not with dogs at all though, but it only started after someone tried to break into my house, I took him everywhere when he was young ,and still do, and he got to meet lots of people and dogs.

Hounds are dogs just like a German Shepard ,they get attached and protective.I wouldnt even consider raising a pup in the house that I ever planned on competing with. They can make great pets but ,my opinion is , it’s just hard enough getting a good one trained up that’s worth competing with ,dealing with my hound liking me to the point that it’s protective is something that can be avoided. I have a Belgian Malinios in the house , she’s allowed to be protective, and does a good job taking my hound pups for hikes all over the mountain here where I live.
