Torn/worn Pads
Noticed this morning that my Male dog had worn his front two pads completely off last night. I assume from drag racing another hound down the asphalt road.
What do y'all recommend I do to help heal his pads. I know I will have to lay him up for at least a week but is there any topical treatments I can use to help them heal faster?
Also, anyway to toughen their pads to prevent future damage?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Cheers,
Coby

I had a female once that had tender pads. A old man told me to soak them in alum powders. I put about 3 tablespoons of the powder in a widemouth quart jar half full of warm water. soaked them 3 times a day for a week, twice a day for another week, and once a day for the 3rd week. She never had tender pads again.

I use this on my dogs for most cuts...I use it on their pads as well...but haven’t had serious pad issues...
I haven’t found a topical that works better...
Hydrotherapy for a few minutes on each cut and then spray CutHeal on cuts at least once a day but twice a day is better...
250 mg of amoxicillin capsules...one a day if infection sets in...for 7 to ten days...
Hydrotherapy is a mild pressure water spray directly on cut using water hose...
Amoxicillin can be ordered online...look up fish medicine and wormers...

Tuff Foot or Pad Coat both will help. Real messy. Expect some blue footprints.
Thanks guys!
I been putting Red Kote and a liquid bandage on it but I'm going to get some of the cut heal today also.
I will also look into the alum powders once he's healed up.

Coby
