SLAM hunts

Can someone who has been on both sides of the slam events let us know from a club point of view and a hunters point of view what pros and cons they have compared to a regular hunt in a DH format?

Do the $35 double header mini slams to start with you will like them the secret is to get at least 5 dogs in your bench show that will pay for your whole hunt packet. Then the hunt is 50/50 split half for the hunters half for the club. Then all the club pays is the $7 a dog.


Tar

Most the hunters love them 2 chances to win and all plus point cast winners get paid. From a clubs standpoint the $35 double header slams are your most bang for your buck when it comes to slams. With paying out hunters and paying UKC $7 a dog + the $35 fee a clubs earnings are more comparable to what you would make on a regular single hunt. Another thing if your hunters aren't more into the $hunts you can have regular double header hunts. Around here these are $20 poor boys and your club will make $13 per entry - the $35 fee for total proceeds. You can run what your average attendance by these numbers to see what is right for your club, area and hunters.

Thank you for the replies I do understand the club making less money for this particular event, we usually do regular DH figured if we threw on mini-slam in there it would boost attendance which will in turn make more money at our normal hunts, the bench show is a great idea to cover the cost as well
