nite hunt entry

I thought this would be an age old question that would be easy to find an answer to, but..... we had a nite hunt in which a hunter intended to be at the club house by deadline, but had trouble that forced him to be a few minutes late. He contacted the hunt director and sent a picture of his easy entry via text message before the deadline, so he was signed up. Another hunter claims he cannot be entered because he was not physically present by the deadline. Rule book talks about the deadlines, but does not differentiate if the hunter must be physically present, or just entered by the deadline. After reviewing the rule book and questioning other MOH's it's obvious that others do not know this rule either. Help!

If he was signed up by deadline he was good to go.

"Conditional entry" he could hunt. This has been gone over and over. Hard to believe everyone, especially MOH, didn't know this. If you read the rulebook it says, "must be signed up". It doesn't say anything about being physically present. He must have had a nice dog if someone didn't want to let him hunt.

Exactly. He's obviously hoping to take advantage of the new rules and make a grand out of a junk dog by getting the cast wins in 1 dog casts.

Nope, you are all wrong. Alan covered this in detail a couple years ago. His money must be paid by someone prior to deadline for him to be considered entered based on a conditional entry. I would hope in most cases and at most clubs someone would put up his entry fee while he is in route, but if they won't he is not entered.
