upstate NY hunting

Thinking about taking a trip up to the Watertown area the first of November. Going to visit family but thought about taking a dog but no nothing about hunting up there. Any tips on places to go or people to talk to? Thanks in advance

Take needle nosed pliers. Lots of porcupines. Not many coons and November is hit or miss with the weather. SNOW! I would make sure to try to find someone local who hunts regular as they will most likely have decent spots. The further north you go the worse the coon hunting from there. Nice country and good people just not great hunting.

Yeah they have some porkys but have coon too. Yes you mite get into snow during November the earlier to go the better. Call this fella he's a good guy I know lives up there he can tell you. I used to hunt around Lowville area back in the mid-nineties!
Really nice people, and some big coons! With some of these big coon, you will think your dog is running a deer. I loved making that trip every year I went.
