Question

This is not for me (I believe I know answer), my sister is getting a feist puppy from me and her husband is wondering about using it for blood trailing deer. I told him they are mostly sight hunters tho mine does use her nose some what.

Anyone out there ever try using a feist for blood trailing deer?

Yes you could but it would take a lot of work. Be better off with a dachshund or something meant for the type of work. I had a blood trailing Jagdterrier and that was tough enough because they hunt everything. I did manage to get her to trail deer but if it were me I would stick to something meant for the job. JMO

Yes, totally agree and told my brother in law that. My sister is getting one of the pups and she already has put her foot down and it will not be used for that Sis wins out Brother in law has big ideas sometimes good guy just not a dog person.

I had a Feist once that could find as many downed deer as anything out there but he was not your typical Feist.
Mr Petty is right you would be far better off with a dog with a blood trailing trait so to speak.

Yes, and you are right some dogs no matter what breed have the exception. Had a female feist given to me who could run the heck out of rabbits and it wasn't by sight either. My brother in law is not a "DOG PERSON or Trainer" so even if possible it would not work my SIS only wants it as a pet and she controls the environment , if you know what I mean
