Leave it to female to fail me

I never hardle hunt females and never raise any pups. But I got chance buy female that is aunt to male dog i been getting hunt with some. And make me a line cross to this male that has only been breed to twice but throwing extremely early starting pups and so super nice young dogs. This Female is all coon hound. Both hounds haven't been to the hunts just pleasure hunted. Local people lining up wanting pup. Ended up having 7 pups 10 days ago and already down to 3 pups rest died. Everything been done buy book as far as vet recommendation goes. Used welping box,momma got plenty milk and pups nursing good. Pups are fat healthy looking. But keep dropping like flys. Lots people make lots crosses have lots pups. I don't and never will. A cross has to have potential to be something extra special or I can buy something with just as much potenial. This is 3rd time my female been bred to and far as I know she only has 2 pups that made it and they was put on another female. Pretty disappointing deal. Guess some females just don't make good momma's

Know how you feel. I won a breeding to a to a stud on the forum. By the time I paid for A. I., drove about 800 miles, paid vet to take pup, I got over 800 bucks in one puppy. He is now 7 months old, a big good looking male pup. Have not hunted him yet, but acts good & seems to have a lot of sense. Then my female comes back in heat & a Catahoula leopard gats to her, apparently thru a chain link fence. Fence has a top on it & no holes under it. I've never heard of them breeding thru a chain link fence, but she was in there the whole time. Then she has 11 pups.

I had a female get bred through the fence once. The only thing I can figure is she backed into the corner because he was tied where he could get to the corner.

Well after hearing from you guys I feel little better. At least she didn't get bred to something I didn't want. And I still got 3 pups so if nothing else dies at least everyone involved with raising this litter will get the pup they are promised.
