Dog Houses

I'm about to start my off ground kennel and would like to build 3 new dog houses. Looking for some plans or good ideas. I thought about building out of plywood then coving with sheet metal. I know I need them to last and really don't won't to put a fortune in them cause I have to build 3.

Sheet metal on dog houses always seems like a bad idea to me because of coming loose and dogs getting cut had a horse bleed out because of sheet metal

Good point but I'm planning on having the houses out side the kennel
Would like to find some easy to fellow plans or a good material other than sheet metal. I know I can build out of wood but I'm not much on working with metal I assume use have to have a brake and have a good way to cut it.

We use the top folding Deer Creek houses. Really like them, not cheap but they are nice well built. Would be a good design to copy. Also lots of dogs have lived well in blue plastic barrels.....

24" x 32" outside measurement, 22" tall on back & 26" tall on front. Top hangs over about 1" on back & sides & about 5 or 6 on front. 2 x 2 in the inside corners. Since pups can't get to it, you could use trim coil to wrap it. It is aluminum, so it will bend easier. Takes one sheet of plywood & 2-2x4x16'. I use #2 spruce 2x4 & 1/2" sheating grade plywood, No wrap or paint & get about 20 years of use. I live in the south, so I don't need insulation, you might. I can buy the coil at a vinyl siding supply store a lot cheaper than lowes or home depot, and its a better quality. I use it on top of my bee hives & just bend it with my hands & a piece of wood or something flat. Lay the trim coil flat & on a piece of wood & score with a utility knife, then bend & brake it. I have a brake, but don't use it for stuff like this.
