'14 VA Bear Season

So I know it's a little late in the season to be starting this, but how's everybody's season been goin? Everybody findin bear pretty good? This is my 4th year huntin and this has been the best of my four. Ain't been to hard to find bear this year.

Plenty of food this year sure has helped........weve treed 8 in the past week, taking 3 and left 5......treed alot of smaller young bear this year which is a good sign for years to come.

Yeah there's definitely been alot of food this year, alot better than last year for sure.

'PR' McPherson's Big Mouth Brandy

Ran one today, trailed it a long ways, jumped it, ran it a longgggggg ways, then it crossed the road, packed my young dog along with 5 or 6 more. Ran 400 more yards and treed. Walked to the tree and my little Brandy was there treein. Tied dogs back and it came out, turned loose, treed again, we got 80 yards from it and it came out again, dogs bayed it there for a minute, treed again and Brandy was still on it. We didn't put back on it this time. Was about a 90 pound bear but it was a fun one to run for sure.

Walked a big sow on the ground today for probably 3 miles total. WOULD NOT TREE. Tore several dogs up. Bit one in the head but I think she's gonna make it.
