Which stud dog would you prefer?

(A)- a high performing, trophy winning stud from bloodline of weak unimpressive hounds
(B)- a weak unimpressive stud from a high performing, trophy winning bloodine?

This is another recent, but friendly debate that I had with my buddy.....and somewhat of an actual decision that he is faced with. I realize my scenario is the worst of two extremes, but the basis is whether blood has more impact on breeding than performance. And with such great responses on my previous post I thought I'd throw it out there.

I wouldn't choose either unless the "performer" was the best I had ever seen. Otherwise, I wouldn't settle for either of the options you listed. I don't believe that those are his only options but if for some reason he is in a jam like that, I would choose the option of not breeding.

It would make a large difference on what is ment by unimpressive. If u have never hunted with the dogs from this ped that will also leave room for speculation. JMO but a title dose not make a dog, u can carry your pappers to the woods every night and try to shake a coon up but that never worked for me. no if two dogs how were not coon dogs were bred and a winning houd came from it it would also in my opinion be likly that this dog would produce a dud the same amount as a coondog. but a hound that can not perform should not be bred at all regardless of what he is from. JMO though

A man that want go hunt with the stud and some of his off spring doesn't really care about what he gets anyway papers don't make dogs neither does all gr and and all that stuff the proof is in the pudding if a man want show his stud and his offspring he probally ain't holding much I like to see a dog go by him self first if he don't perform alone I got no use in watching him go with dogs. Half will never leave your side by themselves. Jmo

Breed to both. Have em DNA to tell what's what. Then you tell us how it goes. Id guess about the same of each would turn out if thr female is any good at reproducing.
