Raising pups in hot weather

Any suggestions on raising pups in hot weather . Pups due in few days . Temp high 80s to 90S and high humidity here in Ohio . Any one have problems with pups to hot . I have whelping box in covered kennel . Whelping box is open top . Also have fan mounted in top of kennel . Fan not big fan just med in size. Any input be helpfull

Sounds like you should be good. A clean, shaded kennel is a plus, and you already got a fan. A good whelping box with guard rails (AKA: Bumper Rails/Pig Rails), with a removable roof, is also important. I also give my dogs fresh water daily.

I personally would rather raise pups in the heat, then in the dead of winter. Best of Luck!!

They are the best. I have 2 litters now. I have 2 LARGE whelping boxes and fans. I have never had any problems with the heat. It sounds like you have everything under control. In my pen I have plastic 55 gallon drums cut in half long ways and my dogs love to climb in an just chill.

I bring my females inside till the pups are about two weeks old...

I'd much rather raise pups in the Winter than Summer. But I have two litters right now and a third one due next week.

Once the pups get to walking if they are getting hot you can always dunk them in water to cool them off.
