TRItronics ?
First off this is not intended to bash any ones product nor am I looking for comments that do so. I have a Tritronics Classic 70 G2 Exp system with 3 collars. The transmitter and all three collars where charged yesterday. The antenna on the transmitter was replaced with a NEW one about 6 months ago because someone in my hunting crew sat on it and broke it. Well anyway, Last night dad, my brother in law, and I went hunting. We hit a track and the dogs all come back but my brother in laws. She is about 175 yards running a ridge not barking but keeps going back and forth on the ridge any where from 140 to 175 yards. Well after about 30 mins of my brother in law calling her with no response. He says, Give me that dang shocker she will come. Well, he tones her a couple times and nothing. He moves up to shock she bawls but still will not come. Long story short we go to her to within 40 yards. She still will not come. So he bumps her again and does so 3 or 4 times . Then all the sudden the shocker just quits. From 1 To 6 NOTHING. This was at 40 yards on the garmin. Well it finally started working again. She comes back we get to the truck load her up and my 4 year old comes out of the box a hauling and gets loose. I try to tone him at like 5 yards NOTHING try 5 or 6 times as he is moving away and me calling him. At 15 yards I switch it to shock form 1 to 6 NOTHING. I try to tone a dog in the box at like a foot away and NOTHING. He keeps going And finally at about 60 yards it bumps him and he comes back hauling. I have checked the antenna its tight everything seems to be as it should be. The collars are all charged and on and blinking as the should. What in the world would cause my shocker to lose range. Anyone have any ideas. If so throw them at me because I'm lost on this one. I bought this unit used and it has worked pretty well until last night. I have shocked or toned my dogs at 5-700 yards before with no issues. Thanks for any help....
Has anyone else had an issue like this? Does anyone have anything I could try or is it just buy a new one? I don't know what to try.
I had one do that years ago and it was a part called the transmit switch. I guess they just go bad. It's not a part that the user can change. I used to send mine to a place called The Collar Clinic in Traverse City, Michigan. They always did a good job on my Tri-Tronics collars.
take the battery off the transmitter wait 5 min and put it back on. mine done the same thing and thats what tri tronics told me to do. it worked and has never happened again.

I took the battery off and left it off over night. But I haven't tried it yet. This is the first time I have had an issue with it not working unless the dogs were out of range. I wonder if I should re add the collars to see if that helps? I was thinking about buying a trashbreaker G3 system and add my collars to it for the added range. But from what reviews I have read they aren't much better range wise than the Classic 70. I also looked at the new Garmin trashbreaker, It says 4 mile range and can be used as a bark limiter also. It seems like a good concept, If they are what they say they are. But at $450 for the system and $200 a pop for additional collars. I think I will take a chance on what I got for a while. I would need at least a 3 dog system.
