Garmin alpha

I have a new alpha that doesn't have the distance. I have two collars and both are doing the same thing. Out past 600 yards it loses connection. Is their an after market antenna for the collars that really makes a difference ? Im pretty let down about the distance I could have bought a lot of string and plastic cups for what this unit cost. Please help out, any advise would be great.
