got a question/need advice bout a black and tan

i have recently gotten a 3 and half yr old b&t off my uncle.my uncle wanted me to have him because he cant hunt hardly anymore.and when he had him he didnt hunt him much and hes reg. mom and dad were grntch.i was wanting to know if and what i could do to make him get out there deeper hes a great close hunting dog.i just want to know if he would pick up on it and tree.i dont wanna keep him in the lot all his life hes a little mean when hunting with males.let me know what you all think

A dog has to know where to go and find a coon. If he hasnt been hunted hard you need to hunt the hair off him for a solid month. He will know after hunting him hard that he will have to go deep to find a coon. It sounds to me he needs put in coon hard for a solid month. He will go know that he has to go deep to find a coon it takes time so hunt em hard and keep him in the woods he will show improvement

yea he dont deserve to be in the lot the rest of his life hes got potential just little ill when hunting with another male he will lock heads with them ant afraid one bit but couple nights after i got him he treed a possum.
