YOU READ ALL THESE DIFFERENT POST ON ALL THE DIFFERENT FORUMS ,BLACK AN TAN, REDBONE, WALKER ,ENGLISK ECT,ECT,ECT,,THEY START OUT LIKE THIS " FORSALE A 20 MONTH OLD PUP, OR FORSALE A 26 MONTH OLD PUP ,OR A 3 YEAR OLD PUP FORSALE NOT STARTED,,, MY QUESTION IS THIS AT WHAT AGE DO THEY STOP BEIN A PUP ??? AND BECOME A DOG.. TO ME A PUP IS 1 YEAR OLD OR YOUNGER ,,,HAVE A BLESSED ONE ,,,RON,IVE NOTHIN TO DO TODAY SO I JUST THOUGHT ID POST THIS TO FIND OUT

How old is a pup

If it can make more puppies, then IMO it isn't a pup.

pups

i ran into a guy at a local store a while back and we got to talking about coon hunting. i invited him to come hunting that night and he said he would be over about dark with an old dog and a pup. it turned out that the old dog was 11 yrs. and the pup was 7 yrs.

You answered your own question Ron. "TO ME A PUP IS ONE YEAR OLD OR YOUNGER" So there's your answer. They are pups till you say they aren't.
There ain't no rule on this. It is whatever we say it is. Myself, I stop calling them pups around the time they turn two. I know a bluetick guy that calls them pups till they die of old age. They are pups till we say they aren't.

PKC calls them pups till the day they turn 4. The Treeing Walker Breeders And Fanciers Association calls them pups till their second birthday.

I agree a year and younger is a pup.from there up to two or so is a young dog in my opinion.
