just thought i'd write a note and tell you how it went at the english sectional. jack didn't get his class or king of show. but they had a treeing contest and lori entered him. she said she knew the guys holding it so thought she would just try him. she let him loose and he treed for a few minutes then decided he didn't want one already treed and caged. he took off. jack is like 0 to 60 in 10secs or less. he was in the woods and gone on a trail. all i know is i got a call at 8:30 that he was gone and she was looking for him. a couple of club members she knew helped her. they didn't find the little stinker. i kind of figured that i would get a call in the morning since he has a collar with a tag on it.
well that little brat went out hunting. two casts caught up with him and he was treed with a coon in the tree. but jack won't let a stranger catch him so they couldn't get a hold of him. he actually circled around and backtracked himself back to the clubhouse. he treed a third time in the woods near the clubhouse. thats where lori caught him. he was gone for almost three hours. he was in an area where he had never been before. i never thought he would be able to find his way back.
one of the nite ch. casts should have had their dogs talk to jack before they left. all four of them got scratched for treeing a house cat.
rule of thumb. never let the dog loose without a tracking collar and don't do treeing contests.
jack is just crazy to go hunting. thats all he wants to do. hopefully it will cool off more so i can take him.
there were six dogs in the gr ch class. all nice dogs. the judge made his decision on maturity tho. he said that was all that seperated them. jack was the youngest dog in the class. but after the class the judge had to explain in greater detail for his decision. i guess some thought jack should have had it. lori was all right with his deccision but some others weren't. my opinion; you win some you lose some. there's always next year.
i'm going to continue showing him until the end of the year.

not yet had her to the vet he believes she had a false heat as i had 3 lab females and a coonhound all in heat at the same time but he also believes she appears to be coming into a normal cycle
