how to read the UKC reg. number
is the letter in the first position the breed? ie parson would be a P.
just trying to figure out how many dogs of my breed got registered this year already. because i'm nosey.
thanks!
It's definitely not the breed. All of my single registered collies have had numbers starting with a "P". I thought maybe it stood for "permanent" registration.

The letter has nothing to do with the breed....Certain letters indicate if a dog is Purple Ribbon, such as A, U & W...Other letters indicate that a dog is not Purple Ribbon such as P.
clears that part up...
ok, so what about the first set of numbers? i had a bunch of dogs registered and they all got 690-000 numbers. a month or so later i did another and she had a 696-000 number.
anyone know how that works?
