Training tips needed
Hunting a young dog that is doing a pretty nice job but he has a problem, He gets treed with a big locate and trees hard until you start into him, as soon as he sees or hears you coming he shuts up, doesnt leave the tree just stands there and stairs up. he wont bark again until the coon hits the ground. If you tie him and encourage him to bark or beat on the tree he will bark some. Hes been pretty accurate, just seems to figure his job is done and having to break out the garmin to get me that last 50 or so yards is a pain. Any suggestions? Im hunting him alone and hes showing me coon every night.

when he shuts up cut your light out and stop and wait until he barks... if he dont bark dont go he will eventually bark when he does just go some more until he shuts up then stop again... lots of young dogs do this when hunting by themselves but i havent ever seen one that would stay not bark eventually if you just waited them out
young dog
i would try hunting him with a good tree dog see if he stays barking with the other dog if he does give him the coon if he stops treeing tie him back and dont give him the coon let the other dog have it jmo
