THERE IS A RUMOR GOING AROUND THAT THE MISSOURI CONSERVATION IS WANTING TO PUT COON ON THE YEAR AROUND OPEN SEASON LIST . DUE TO A OVER LOAD OF NUSAINCE COMPLANTS.. ANY TRUTH TO IT... ?????

i wouldnt think thet would do somethimg like thatit would wipe your coon popultion out you would be killing sows with little ones so there goes all your young coon there would be little chance of having any kind of coon populiton after that just think about it jmo

Florida has an open season but it the population isnt affected by it. It was done due to rabies. But most land here is leased for hunting so the lease holders tend to take better care of thier game than when it was open land. Too, the Management areas are closed except during general gun season and small game season. It is only a problem if you have some "kill-em all boys" hunting in your area. Most hunters are sportsmen. What causes thin population here is land management practices. Mainly the pine tree business.
