What ways do people train there pups to be the best the can be?

Hey i was wondering how owners of anybread of coon hound train there pups to be the best coon hound they can possible be?

What are some of the different methods owners use? and if the owner will train each dog different depending on what there pup is showing them?.

I have always said a dog trained alone will be a better dog in the end. Once your dog starts to range out and strikes first a few times its time to single him her out. If it trees slick whoop it send it on to finish the track. If its striking in and not getting treed make sure its not running trash. A dog that learns alone will have more confidence than any dog that packed its whole life. When I go to the woods I can't stand a me too dog thats sniffing butts all nite. There is much much more but this is the basics. If you follow them you should be fine. you know what they say about opinions..........lol this is mine

They get them started hunt the heck out of them and fine tune one problem or issue at at time. I think the biggest thing most trainers of world class dogs to is know very early whether a hound has the potential to be the kind of dog they are looking for and if it doesn't they move quickly to one that does.

Let the pup run loose day/nite.You will see a big difference in there ability to adapt to most situations.
When it's time to open them up on coon most of the training they would of done themselves.

pup training

when my pups are old enough , about 3 months, i start to take them for short walks in the woods . always in the day time. it gets them use to the obstacles , and differant smells ,and noises . and with any luck, i'll kick up a deer,the second they act interested , i correct them. most times all i need to do is yell at them . on some rare occasions , i use my e collar. but i never hit or whip a pup . if you spend alot of time with your pups , those first 3 months ,they know when you yell at them they're doing something wrong . i truly believe the more you teach them those first 3 to 5 months the easier your next 2 years will be. one more thing you should always remember, it's 90% breeding , 10% training. if they have it in their genes , chances are they'll have it in the woods . hope this helps you a little , and keep kicking them loose, till they cover you up.
