Leather boots on froglegs
They look real nice and seems like they would be tougher than a muck boot. What would you have to treat them with to keep them waterproof? Any of you guys use them much ?

quote:I wear leather boots nearly all the time but I have never had chaps sewed on any of them . I think Wick use to sew them on your boots if you sent them to him. Don't know if anyone else does it now that he is no longer in that business. I agree, a good leather boot would be much more comfortable than rubber boots and look better. As far as weather-proofing leather boots...I use 'Wet Proof", 'Mink Oil" or silicone boot dressing and it helps but they only last a few years for me. I coon hunt in rubber boot/chaps. They are a must here.

Eric I had a pair about eight yrs ago...The boot itself was very comfortable but no matter what I treated them with, they leaked...In all fairness the terrian we hunt up here is swampy and wet most of the year...I finally gave up after a year or so and threw them away...Went back to chaps and rubber boots..

leather
the ones i have are lacrosse with goretec in them they stay very dry in most situations but i walked almost a mile in over knee deep water the other night and they got damp inside....don't know if it was sweat or seeping through
I have a pair of the Lacrosse work boots with chaps ,that Valley Creek sells. Mine have never leaked and I have never put a thing on them. I can see where they would eventually. If thy only last a year, I will buy a pair every spring. They aren't very warm is the only thing I dislike about them. I wear muck in the winter but I love the comfort of the work boot.
