age and methods for training on coon?

I am new to hounds and just picked up an 8 wk old treeing walker. I have hunted coon before with patterdale terriers. Since I am new to hounds I was wondering the best methods of training to tree with the walker and around the age to start?I know all dogs are different but what is a good age brackett?Since terriers go to ground and hounds tree I know the training will be different just looking for idea's. thanks yis. Also would it be best if I got another walker to hunt him with and what age would be best? I would like to get another his age and teach them toghether but I also would like decent coon dogs..If any one knows any hound coon clubs in maine or nh that would be great too.

i like to wait till they'er 12 weeks to show them a coon in a cage and dont force him into it let him go on his own with you next to the cage it helps thier confidence

I use to raise JAGD Terriers. Hounds mature slower and don't have the grit that the terriers do. Doesn't do much good to show them coon at a real young age. If I was you I would just tease it with a hide and try to get all the drive you can in it. It will let you know when it is ready for more. Build as much drive as you can and don't let it fight till it is grown or close to it. First kill should be an easy one. Other than that they do about the same.
Did you ever use your terriers on wild hog? That is what I sold mine for. They were an extra agressive strain (if you can imagiane that) and hunting machines.
One more thing I would say and a lot of people on here won't agree but don't let them mess with any other game. Keep them clean form day one.
They might get a lot of tracking experiance out chaseing other things but keep in mind. While you are trying to train them on coon do you want to have to correct them on one tree and praise them for another. I keep mine clean from day one. I have squirels and cats around the ward all the time and they are not allowed to mess with either one. So when you show them a coon and pet them for bawling at it.
They finaley find something you will let them use there inherited urges on it is GREAT FUN and they allready know they can't mess with off game. Makes it a lot easier when you put them in the dark. As far as helping them learn to track and giveing them experience.
Lay drags or what I do is I go hide from them. You can lay the track like you want age it like you want and the pup will stay hooked up on you better than a drag. You can climb a tree and get them to barking up all you have to do is switch scent on them when you think they are ready.
This is just how I do things. It probubley isn't to old school and I haven't trained any coon dogs. I have trained a lot of dogs for tracking and trailing and air scent just not on coon.
