World Show Question!

I'm new to this showing thing. My wife has started showing dogs and has a real nice female. My question is, what do you have to get to qualify for the world. Also, once qualified, do you go to the zones and show, or is the show at the world finals. I tried to read and find out but couldn't find that info anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

First

You show and win at a Regional Qualifying Event. RQE. Once you qualify, you show at the Finals only. No Zone for the bench show.

Do you have to win Best of class, Best of breed, or best of show to qualify?

Dealer,

It takes a best of show to qualify at the RQE, good luck.

But What Do We Do...

here in the northeast where there are no RQEs any longer? The hunts are pretty much covered through the mini slams that are being offered. However, you can't get a dog qualified for the bench show at them.

It leaves us no options for trying to qualify to attend the world.

It's sad because last year, we did go and had a good time there. (But we had to travel into NY to find an RQE. Thankfully, two of my dogs won there otherwise, we'd be stuck with no other option for qualifying).

Granted, not many people are willing to travel from northern New England to the larger events in the mid west, but for those of us that really enjoy going, talking with the people and showing our dogs, it's frustrating we have no options for qualifying.

HHmmm...while typing this, I came up with a thought...maybe UKC would consider allowing the New England Coonhunters Association to host an RQE at one of the Point Events it runs thoughout the New England states. Numbers have been promising for entries at these events (I'll have exact stats at the end of the season for each club that hosted a point event.) Our first year has been very encouraging and we hope to offer more to the local New England clubs next year! Guess I might want to put a bug in Todd's and/or Tank's ear....won't hurt any!
