Vicks problems????????

Is Michael Vick being treated fair. Would he have been better off if he committed rape like one journalist said?

I'm not taking up for him and not bashing him but crimes against animals can affect us all. Is he getting a worse deal than you or I would get or is he getting off light?

Where is the line??????????????

Here is the way I see it....

The line is written down. It's law. He broke the law, and is pleading guilty.....and the justice department is not in the "revenge" business, it's is justice.

Vicks works for an organization that has a zero tolerance for criminal acts. He knew that when he signed a contract to work for that organization.....and he ignored it.

Micheal Vicks is no different from any other member of our society today. We make choices every day that could affect our lives and livelyhood. Our society is quick to want to "back up" and change the rules when things affect us. We want to claim ignorance, or ask for a "second chance".

My job would be lost if I committed a felony, and when I lost my job, I would lose my house, I would go to prison, and I would pay the price. Michael Vick is about to plead guilty to a felony, he will most likely lose his job, lose his house, and go to prison.....

Where is the difference? Becasue he was given a signing bonus, and he will not be able to fullfill his commitment to his contract, he will owe someone several million dollars. (I don't have a signing bonus, and I don't make millions of dollars)

I don't see the difference, and I don't think he is being treated unfairly. He committed a crime, he is admitting to it, and he will be punished. His punishment seems extreme, simply because he had more to lose than most of us....but that does not mean I feel sorry for him.....

He knew the consequences when he startedthe dog fighting ring. He knew it was illegal, so i dont want to hear him crying about it now that he's gotten caught. You reap what you sew!

I don't believe this boy will ever have an extended visit to the cross bar hotel. He will have to pay part of what he makes in one game and promise never to do it again. It's not how good or bad he is at football but how much money it cost him to stay out of prison.

I realize the law is the law. He broke it. But be careful how you trap that coon to train your pup, out of season. Laws still apply. Not saying I think there's anything wrong with it, but there are murderers that get less time than Vick will get for fighting dogs. I don't always agree with these laws that apply to animal rights. Last year, there was no world champion Tenn Walking Horse crowned because of the same type of thing. They cancelled the final class. Hope they don't get started on coon dogs any time soon. JMO

Well said.

HOWEVER, I think its a screwed up law that makes something like this a crime. I personally find dog fighting for sport, very distasteful. But you won't have to go far to find someone that finds some aspects of coonhunting just as distasteful.

How long will it be before coonhunting and coonhunters are looked upon the same way as dogfighting and Michael Vick?

I don't much care what the law or the NFL does with Vick but he sure has made a ton of money for PETA and HSUS. Last night on CNN's Nancy Grace show, she did a big thing about the Vick situation and at the end they put up on the screen PETA and HSUS's 800 numbers with a headline that said to donate money to those two orgs if you want to stop dogfighting. Both of them will rake in millions of dollars in cash off this thing and every dime of it will be used to outlaw hunting and fishing. And for that, Vick should be burned at the stake.

Like i said. When you know its against the law, dont cry when you get caught. Pay the fine(in this case) and move on.

OK, so lets say next week they pass laws that are just as tough on coonhunting as the current laws are on dogfighting.

Whose going to immediately hang it up, like they are supposed to do. Who will sneak around and tree a coon or two, anyhow?

I'm not sure I can hang it up.... If you're in the latter group, you are no better than Michael Vick.

I guess what I'm saying is that we, as coonhunters, are screwed. Its not a matter of "if" it happens, but "when".

As I heard on the news this a.m..he not only fought dogs..but if they were dogs that were not up to par, he would kill them...not shooting them...but by drowning them or hanging them and such. I personally believe he deserves more. For someone to drown an animal to kill it or hang it...thats beyond dog fighting..that is just sick.

I have culled dogs, but i have never hung them, drowned them, or electricuted them to death. You can cull a dog without getting agry at it and trying to hurt it.

I hope you really dont believe that. I never said dont do it. I said, if you do it, dont cry about it when you get caught. There also arent many on here that dont knock a coon out to a young dog out of season. I know i have, but if i get caught i will pay the penalty, and you wont see me on here crying about it either.

I really do believe it and I fully expect to get disciplined if I break the rules and get caught. I don't have to like the rules and if thats whining and crying, then so be it.

My point is the rules are being made by people that for the most part are out of touch with animal/people relationship and its going to get worse. "They" get to define what is cruel to an animal, not you or I.

He's letting his attorney's and friends do his crying for him. All you hear is witch hunt this or racial that. Wait until they decide if he will do time or not.

All I'm saying is if he thought that nothing was wrong with dog fighting, and that he shouldnt be punished for doing it. Why wasnt he using his money and notariety to push to make it legal?

here is the one thing we are all missing THERE IS NO PROFF THAT HE DID ANYTHING!!!!!! just abunch of other criminals pointing there fingers his way are there any pics of him doin any of this or any vedio of him doin anything...... not that i have seen so far!!!! JMO
