Hey Cole me and the wife went yesterday we didn't find a one. I have always heard that if it is at least 70 degree's through the day and at least 50 degrees through the night they will start popping up.

Thats what my grandpa was telling me. It seemed a little to dry where I was looking to. Hopefully they'll start coming up, I'm craving em'!

APRIL 14TH

IS THE EARLIEST I EVER FOUND THEM HERE IN N.W. IL. WE'VE HAD THE WEATHER TO BRING THEM ON. JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T TURN COLD FOR A PERIOD OF TIME NOW AFTER ALL THIS WARM WEATHER. WE ARE GETTING RAIN NOW AND IT'S WARM. ROONS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER. <v> P.S. WHEN THE LILACS ARE BLOOMING, THE MORELS ARE OUT.

That is early. I don't expect to see much until next weekend and little grays.

My non-vascular plant professor was an Indian lady. She said, Whoo, don't eat m'shrooms, dey'll dwive you cwazy. Years later I was standing around a corn field in September so called "dove hunting". Well this car stopped on the other side of the hedgerow and lets a fellow out who jumps the fence on the other side of the road into a cow pasture. I'm quite certain he was going to hunt for those pink topped shrooms what grows in cow turds. By and by, a flock of doves came in and we cut loose, well he took off towaeds some woods and the car took off. So, we sat sweating the rest of the afternoon but little did he know that field was on a wood duck roostin flyway. So we stayed till dark and the crackers in the car every so often came haulin ___ by hoping he had come back out to the road. About half hour before sunset the sand knats started up, bad, real bad, the worst! I recalled my Prof's advice. If he wasn't already cwazy, I'm sure them sand knats finished him off.

you fellers are making me hungry! I love to slice the morels length wise and fry them in butter, garlic, and a few other spices. Do any of you guys eat puff balls? Love them too, get em when they are young and pure white throughout and fry them in butter too. How bout leeks? I live to eat a pile of leeks! I have mentioned leeks to some folks and they dont know what I'm talking about, I guess they don't grow everywhere. They are alot like a wild onion, they are some good eatin but make you smell a little unpleasant. I did a early morning coon hunt before sunrise, the coon were on the move and the leeks were growing good so I'll be digging some up a little later today, maybe some venison steak and leeks for supper!
