1st HTX hunt for Clearfield County Coonhunters

Clearfield County Coonhunters ASSC is a new club in Mahaffey PA and we held our first HTX hunt last night. We had 6 dogs entered and 3 dogs earned passes. Our next HTX is August 26 hope to see some new faces. I will post pics this evening

That's excellent. Did everyone seem to enjoy it? Were more of the participants guys / gals that also hunt in the nite hunts or more of the area pleasure hunters?

Seems like we have been getting more Hunt Test emails lately. There are still people just finding out about this program.

Most of our entries were guys that run the local hunts around here. this was the first HTX hunt for everyone except me and everyone enjoyed it. they cant wait till we have our next one. The best part of last night was my 8 year old son handled "HIS" female and got a Pass with her, and then the dog i hunted didnt pass so he rubbed it into Dad all night haha. That to me was the best that a kid can come out with out any pressure on them and hunt towards a title.

i will post pics and names of winners when i get off work.

Our first Hunt will be November 30 we will be having a Bench Show, Field Trial and Nite Hunt. Also it will be an English Sectional.

Our HTX Schedule is:
Aug 26 Deadline 9 PM entry Fee $10
Sept 10 Deadline 9 PM entry Fee $10
Sept 24 9 PM entry Fee $10
Oct 22 8 PM entry Fee $10

Thanks for posting pics!

Love the fact that kids are equals in the HTX program. That alone is reason enough that every club should be holding them. Can you imagine how proud that kid must have been that his dog passed and his dad's didn't? You think that boy is not hooked? That is awesome.

We held one at our club on Monday as well. We had six dogs also and we had three guys come up from Maryland just to see how the whole thing works. We have gained a lot of interest in the last couple of months and hope it continues to grow.

I like the idea of allowing the younger hunters to participate as well.

Thanks Todd and i agree 100% there is nothing better than seeing a kid petting on his dog and smiling ear to ear. He definately rubbed it in to but you know if one of us had to fail im glad it was me and not him haha. And i was 1 Proud Father watching him praise her on the tree

Connie, i apologise for having ours on the same night as you. I checked the schedule and the rest we have scheduled are on different days so we will try to come down to your club on nights you have hunts.

I’m really glad that you guys are holding these HTX closer to home
The last time I entered my COONHOUND I had to drive 2 hours to a nice club
& went out with a very good guide/judge who put me in thick coon
We hunted the full time & saw 5 coon my COONHOUND never barked once
It was a very long ride home “LOL” & more “LOL” you just never know

Ed i enjoyed seein' your sons picture, brought back memories of yesteryear when I hunted with my boys when they were that age.

Thanks bigtimberkennel, While i was in the service i missed out on alot of time with my Kids so now that i am retired from that career i have more time to spend with them. Lucky for me all my Boys love Hunting haha so when they dont have football practice or games we are out there in the woods together. i can honestly say that even when the dogs are having a bad night i still enjoy just being out there with the kids haha. they make it all worth it.
