Call me crazy!!

Last night me and my buddy headed to my dogs 2nd ever night hunt. With a hundred percent chance of rain and tornadoes touching down all around we managed to get it done. Coming home with my first win on my 19 month old pup!! Here is a picture of him atop the mountains we hunt!

drew out years ago hunting my buddys dog for him,, turned 4 dog cast out,,,storm blew in,,thunder litening,,,small hail....my dog was the only one that had struck in,,,,,,3 dogs that did not open came back and got under trucks,,,mine trailed maybe 30 minutes and treed,,,,,the 2 of the cast left,,,, the judge put his dog up and we went to the tree,,,10 seconds into shining he saw the coon and said if that dog has pups i want one,,,,,he;d never seen a dog hunt and tree in a storm.... she made one more tree,,,den tree...got back to club,,,took 4th place,,, the other cast missed the storms.......i was soaking wet but proud,,,,,,,,,,they had all heard about the storm from the other 2 cast members...they just knew we'd come in dead......

It might not be to you but I know where these boys hunted and I know what kind of conditions they hunted in all night.

The hunt that this young man won at was March 2. That was the night all. The terrible storms and tornadoes hit. Heck our hunt deadline was at 8:30 but Quincy was the Hunt Director and it was so bad outside he refused to let anyone leave the club until almost 9:30 and with more bad storms on the way he set the deadline to return at 4:00am so if they needed to take some time to wait out the weather they could and still get their hunt in.

It was not typical hunting weather. That was the only coon scored out of 4 casts.

Coon feeder or not to even get on a coon let alone tree it and score it in that weather was pretty darn lucky.

CONGRATULATIONS on your win and I hope you will come to more of our hunts!

wow, i'm always amazed at what some say, especially to the YOUTH of our sport.

by the way, your tag line suits you well i think, "2nd place is the first loser"...i guess with you too afraid to drive across the mountain, step out in a bad storm, and set on a computer poking fun at a win you would have glady taken makes you well below 2nd place.

NOTE: I am not directing these next few statements towards anyones dog or trying to say I think anyones dog is like this. I am just saying this could be one of the reasons why he took the chance and drove an hour and a half and hunted in a torhellicane.

Maybe a year or two down the road when he decides to run his dog at stud and people ask him where all did u get your wins from he wants to be able to list several different clubs. Because take it from someone who knows it does look a lot better to have more than just the club that's 20 minutes down the road listed and a lot of people will look at where that dog did its winning to title out. Just proves the dog doesn't have to be hunted on its home territory to win.

To stop all this nonsense, if anybody wants to hunt with my dog to see if he is a coon dog or not call me and we'll go. A nite hunt win doesn't make or break a dog as a coondog in my opinion.
