Plus points

Look at the scores on $kc if anyone thinks it does not take plus points to win in big $kc's hunts. Look at those scores and tell me that its not coondogs winning these hunts. Sure you can advance without plus points, but you will not win a big hunt without scoring olus points. Dave

I scored 550+ last night with Yadkintar in a 90 minute hunt . We had 22 dogs with 16 of them holding plus points . Marietta put on a good hunt !

Im not grouchy lol, and yes sambo looked pretty common.

Lol

All of them can't be like old Mac or duke. Last years world champion was on a deer feeder couple 3 wks ago,and he's still in running now. Going by the winning scores,a reasonable person can understand what's happening. A dog winning by 250+ points or more is finding more coons than others, period. Something tells me its gonna get real exciting tonight, early round. Then late it'll be find the coon first. Good luck to all.

Wow

3 sum, Thor, Studly, hang on?.

Posted by Richard Lambert on 10-29-2017 02:42 PM:

Doesn't Steven Smith live in the mountains of Northeast Georgia? Is that where he hunts/trains 3 Sum? Y'all keep talking about thick coon around Salem and sure those high powered dogs treed quite a few but look how far they went to find them. If the dogs at the UKC World in Elberton had gone a mile in different directions, maybe they would have treed several. Most casts walked a couple of miles up there. I only hunted 1 night but we treed 1 coon together at 900 yds, my dog treed 1 by himself at 500 yds and the dog that won treed 1 by himself at 1.08 mi with 2 min to go in the hunt. Can you really call that thick coons?

Posted by Richard Lambert on 10-29-2017 03:20 PM:

Comparing blk n tan days to PKC World is like comparing apples to oranges. They are held during different seasons. And dogs tree together at one and by themselves at another. A lot of time is wasted walking at PKC World. In the cast that I was in, we treed every coon that was there. We didn't pass any up.

Posted by KevinP on 10-29-2017 03:23 PM:

Exactly, just like comparing the two world hunts was way off base. Glad you got my point.

Posted by Richard Lambert on 10-29-2017 03:28 PM:

You are right, there is no comparison....

Posted by Dave Richards on 10-29-2017 06:00 PM:

Richard & Kevin P

My post was never intended to compare hunts, just to address the ones that actually believe the $KC'S dogs win without plus points. I did not intend for anyone to actually compare the registries as both of you guys were correct in saying they are 2 different hunt formats or are they? Looking at the play by play on both KC's the dogs were constantly split, rarely on the same tree. My post was not about scores, but about plus points winning. Dave

Give it up Dave. The UKC ranks are full of hunters who do not have enough confidence in their dogs or themselves to hunt at even PKC"s club level so all they have left is to rag on about winning without treeing a coon.

Isn't it weird how a post can wander off from the posters original topic and take on a life of its own. " Which registry is better" topics get a lot more interest on this Forum for some reason.

It is just human nature to want to "toot your own horn". Otherwise why would we have such a cool expression to describe it? And if we don't then who is going to do it?

And human nature to blame the coon population for the reason your dog passes alot of coon and you lose.
