Thoughts on the World Show

Well, no one has really said anything, so I'll ask...

What are y'alls thoughts on the choices that were made?

Overall I thought they do well. Although there were a few that left me scratching my head about. Thought my dog did real well too!

I thought the whole thing went as well as it could have considering the conditions outside...it was a packed house and things still ran smoothly as far as I could tell....my hats go off to the guys in Springfield that hosted the event...as far as the choices that were made I think I had to agree with all but two....and my dog was involved in neither of the classes....so my feelings aren't personal...This was also my first trip to a big event like that and I was impressed and also thought the dog we brought with us stepped up to the plate and did as well as she could have against some of the bigger names....wish we could have made the cut but we didn't and thats the way it goes...can't win 'em all....but we'll be back

I did scratch my head a few times. Thought maybe I had something in my hair, besides rain water. LOL
I truly liked the blue male that Chad Arrowood showed and thought he should have won it, at least blue male. He made his cut. He a super nice one. Maybe next time.

thank you. for a dog of 21months, he's doing good. he'll be a lot better at 3 & 4 yr old

As a participant.....

............it was my third world show and I learn something everytime. I watch and study - some of the dogs I picked won their classes or cuts and some didn't. Would not have like to be the judge(s) - when you get to that level you are looking at some of the very best dogs each breed has to offer.

My dogs did what I asked them and showed well for me at that moment in time - that is all I could have asked. I still love 'em and maybe we will get noticed on another day...I'm still learning and so are they -but we will get there some day. Until then - I'M HAVING FUN!!!

And Cynthia - you know my opinion on Bandit - he is a nice young male and you two have a great future ahead of you.

Becky

The majority are still not houndy enough for my taste. Looked too much like foxhounds. There was on Bluetick Male that place. He looked like a hound is supposed to.

i wish i could have seen the show.i love to hunt, but i sure do like to look at a beautiful hound.i had the pleasure of judging the show at Black and Tan days this year and WOW it was an honor to be in the ring with that caliber of hounds.I've got a 9 year old girl that puts her pup on the show bench everyday after school. She'll be up there with you girls one day.Dad just needs to buy her one of the right caliber of dog to show.Congratulations to ALL breeds that showed!!!!!!!!

Russell,
Hadn't seen too many too many foxhounds to remember, but I do know what a greyhound looks like! Seems like all the breeds are going to that body style. I'm not trying to get people riled up on this. They look real slick and pretty, but they don't have the houndy, working dog type body that alot of people like in a coon dog.

small, narrow in the chest, "Coke-bottle" nose, short ears, male dogs that look like a female whippet is not pretty to me. Im sorry but its not, and does not represent what the "REAL" working coonhounds are all about.

Give'em hell Russell. I usually do. Its insane, what has become of the coonHOUNDS...UUUUh or should I say WHIPPEThounds? I made this very same comment at AO when I seen first hand, the difference in "show" dogs and "workingdogs"
For all you show people that choose to bash me...NO I AM NOT JEALOUS, so save it!

Im sorry you dont like my opinion, but to my knowledge this is still a free country and i have the right to an opinion. Just answer me this. Did the hounds in the World Bench show have the same "conformation" as the hounds that were hunting?
