define blowing at the tree
And is this agression? And is this a mean dog?
A dog may blow at the tree without being agressive to other dogs IF he is blowing UP the tree with NOTHING towards the other dogs. Most dogs that are blowing at a tree are trying to intimidate the other dogs into leaving or at least backing up, this is agressive behavior.

Look at it this way: Say you are at work doing your job. All of a sudden someone comes up to you and starts screaming in your face. Now what do you think?

some dogs tree alone and blow to the side! You gotta be honest with yourself and no your dog
My buddy has a dog that the only time he will blow is when a dog is jacking a tree or pushing him.....at that point i don't blame the dog.

ok so do you hunt
the dog in a hunt or just keep the dog in the woods by himself??
Get rid of him , it WILL cause trouble
My dog trees off the tree about 3 feet or so and barks to the side. In my opinion this isn't blowing or facebarking because he does it on every tree wether he is by himself or with a cast.

It's not uncommen for dogs to have a type of tree mouth that naturally sounds intimidating. And the bad news is that many comp hunters are even more easily intimidated than the dogs are. Keep that in mind because if your dog is a winner, his tree style will be used to get rid him. Just reading this board will show you that much.
I don't allow my dogs to blow/face bark at ANY dog and I expect the same from other hunters.
Most times it just causes problems.

Yes, it is aggression but whether thats a mean dog is a matter of personal opinion, lol.
As for the rules, blowing itself is not a reason to scratch a dog.
Blowing that causes another dog to modify its behavior is interfered with and that is grounds for scratching. If another dog goes to get up on a tree and the Blower gets in his face and causes the dog to back off the tree, then its agression and the dog is scratched. If the dog gets up on the tree and ignores the blower, then its not grounds to scratch.
This falls under "attempting to fight", by the rules.

HOW DO YOU ALL KNOW ALL THIS STUFF ABOUT WHAT A DOG IS DOIN WHEN YOU ARE NOT THERE, IF I HEAR ANY OF THAT STUFF IM NOT GOING TO HUNT THE DOG WITH OTHERS UNLESS I CAN FIX IT.
you put a couple powerfull tree dogs on one tree with not enough room, you will get blowing.
face it, if you have a dog that cannot handle face barking ,,there is no point in it being in the hunts

Yea I hear people say if your dog cant handle it .My dog wont take no sh***. But I didnt understand what they meant. Now I hear the term hes blown in at my dog he needs scratched. I do not understand,I thought u had to atcually see the agressor. ??
why in the world do people on here try to defend face barking, which in 99.99 % of the time is going to lead to much more aggressive behavior, attempting to fight, then to fighting.
I have never seen a dog start out fighting, it always starts with face barking.
Anyone that tries to reason, or excuse this behavior, is just closing their eyes to reality.
I hunted in a hunt last night, had a super great time. Got beat by a nice coon dog. All four dogs in our cast where powerful hard tree dogs. Mine even jumps and chews more than I would like. WE NEVER had a face bark or any trouble at anytime. That is the way every cast and all dogs should be.
My suggestion is stop breeding face barking, trouble starting dogs. If you have one, don't hunt it in a hunt, or with young dogs, or with other people dogs.
If you have a face barker/ tree gaurding, type of dog, PLEASE, don't hunt it in a hunt. If you draw me, I will sure scratch a face barker, or blower. No need to try to tell me 'you have to have both aggression and interference', cause in my book blowing/ tree gaureding, face barking is aggression with interference!!!!!~
Thus, he is going to get sratched.

My pup done it to my black dog ONE time. I put a fist between his eyes and he looks up while treeing now. A dog shouldn't have to stand and be threatened while he is doing his job. I don't care if another is running, jumping, flipping, falling or what. As long as it doesn't take a bite from another dog mine better not get agressive...........Now if it is a direct bite I won't blame him for takeing up for himself............The out come of a mean dog won't be determind by how much he has made me either. It is all the same. Mean dog getts bullet. My 6 year old ridge back that I had since he was 4 weaks old found that out about a weak ago. Bowed up at my ex one to many times.........

i will never pack a dog that is flat out mean my definition of a mean dog is
a dog that goes into a tree knowing there going to jump on a dog doesnt ever look to get split because they know they can take any tree they want to a dog that when treed first will not let a dog tree with them even if other dog is trying to keep to its self and just tree
i would shoot a dog that fits this description but i would also shoot a dog that will leave a tree because a dog does a little blowing or pushing
