Training dog to hunt alone Vs hunting with other dogs

The two best dogs that I ever owned were self starters at an early age and were hunted mostly alone. I have had other dogs that were mostly hunted with other dogs that didn't do as good even though they were well bred. I am thinking here of a Redbone that was sired by Tall Timber Talker and a Bluetick that was sired by Blue Jet # ?.

I strongly suspect that compared to the experience of the hound hunters that are on this forum, my experience pales by comparison so I would like to ask the forum members to weigh in with their opinion on which is the better way to train a hound-with other hounds or trained alone?

IMO Hunting one alone for the most part is the only way to tell if you got a top finished hound on the end of your lead! I do mix in some hunting with other dogs and setting the dog I am working up in some scenarios to see how it will react and if its gonna hold pressure. But 85 to 90 % is alone until at least 3 years old.

I like to single 1 out after I start it with an older dog. Now if I didn't have a nice straight well behaved older dog I may do it different.

Training a dog to hunt alone VS hunting with other dogs.

Thanks Banjo Picker and Pam Johnson for your input. You confirmed what I have been thinking.
