Had a guy try to tell me that starting a pup with a finished hound that done hunt real hard will make the pup run the same way ?? Kinda like a monkey see monkey do type of deal.......whats y'all opinions.......if u start a pup with a finished hound that may not be top notch will your pup never become top notch .?

yes and no. youre not going to change what the pup is. if hes got the ability and desire- that shouldnt change, unless something catastrophic happens... but you can hunt them with sub par dogs with bad habits and they absolutely will teach the pup bad habits... like leaving trees, getting rough, ect. i want to hunt my pup with the best dogs i can coming up so they can learn good habits. what some people call a puppy trainer surprises me- just because a dog's nose isnt what it used to be and its slow doesnt make it a puppy trainer. you can hunt a young pup with the wrong dogs and effect him for a long time

No, the question was can I start a pup with a Finished Dog that has no other problems, the key word was FINISHED DOG. If the only problem is he don't hunt that hard that will be fine to get your pup started, like I said when the puppy starts treeing on his own start hunting him on his own.....
