Leash Locked question

On a 3 dog cast, two dogs treed, and the other is 800 yards deep trailing. After scoring the tree, what is the correct thing to do? Does these two stay leash locked while you are leasing for the third dog to open, then cut to him or the 8 mins catches him? Or do you just send them in the direction he was last heard?

You have to wait until dog is heard

That's what I thought, can you tell me where I may find that in the rule book?
