breeding question?

i have a nice black n tan x cur cross id say she is 40 pds. I know of several nice english dogs that are around 65 pds my question is could that cross be made with out harming the female? ive always heard u shouldnt breed larger males to smaller females. ive made alot of black n tan crosses when i had hounds but they was all with in 10 pds of each other thanks!

You want have any problem with a dog as big as she is no matter how big the hound is, I crossed a female Feist that weighed 25 pounds to a Hound x Cur male that weighed over 60 pounds without a problem, i am not sure how it happened but a buddy of mine had a real small Jack Russel and she got bred by his dads close to 100 pound Bluetick and some how she had the pups without a problem but i would never breed a dog that small to a big dog like that and the only reason i brought it up was for a example on size ratio.

To tell you the truth most of the crosses you see like the Feist x Hound they breed a male Feist to a female Hound but some don't, I have a half Feist and half Cur female that weighs about 30 lbs that i use to make my crosses with, my female and her mother both sized the pups up good when breeding to larger dogs.
