dog lost her voice
I was hunting my 4 year old female with a partner saturday night. First drop ran and treed voice normal. Second drop they hunted out about 800 yard struck ran track and treed. While we were walking to them I noticed she quit treeing. She has never done this before, when we got close to the tree she was treeing but her voice was very hoarse and no volume. When I got home she did not want to get out of the box and acted like she did not feel good. Next morning she still was very sluggish. Tonight I looked her over good looking for marks or bites. I found the inside of her ears very warm and a little redder than they should be. An old man once told me ear mites would cause a dog to lose thier voice. Has anyone heard this? I have read threads about this problem, but don't remember what was said. Any ideas or comments would be welcomed.

don't think ear mites will make them lose thier voice but mites and ear enfections will cause them pain when they bark if it were me i would take your dog to the vet to get it checked out

Thanks for the advice. I was planning to go to the vet tomorrow, I thought someone may have had a similar experience and was curious how it turned out for them.

I had a dog loose her voice doin the same thing once I gave my dog warm tea no sugar in it with a little bit honey to coat the throat. It helped some the first day and by day 3 dog was perfectly a ok...red ear may be from not feeling good or where she may have got into it with a coon or slight fever but ear mites ud know her ears will be black and they'll shake their head and scratch at them ull know ear mite when u see them. But hope ur hound gets better and u figure out what's wrong with her buddy.
