Squalling coons out
Is there any negative effect on dogs if you squall coons out after they tree them? I love hearing a good hot race after they come back down the tree.
Some dogs will start leaving the tree and looking for the track if they hear anything they think is a coon hitting the ground .
Honestly , I like to hear it too ... but if a dog did a good job and treed the coon , I think it sets a better discipline to not kick their sandcastle down and make them rebuild it.
I do think it's a heckuva good thing for young dogs that aint treeing good yet .. it's hard to find a hot coontrack from a worked up , stinky coon like you can with a re-run ... but it's all about moderation and context.
You can mess up a young dog that is already treeing doing this. If you have a young dog that's not treeing it might get them to start treeing. But if they are already treeing anything that comes out of the tree needs to die under the tree.
