Please Help!
I have a two year old dog that will run and tree its own coon. If he is turned loose with another dog, he will go his own separate way and not follow that dog. If another dog trees before him, he will not honor that dog and go looking for another coon. However, if he trees first, he will stay there if another dog comes in to his tree. The problem is this dog will not go very far in the woods when he is turned loose by himself. How do I make this dog go in the woods and hunt by himself? Please help!
I'd say walk him until he hits a good track. I've seen dogs that were hardly ever hunted alone that wouldn't hunt by their self. If you walk him a little it'll build his confidence up.

Patience
Cut him loose and sit on the tailgate and wait him out!! He'll get to going!! If not, load him up and try another spot. If he doesn't go 2nd time around, take him home and put in kennel and repeat the next night. He'll start to hunt sooner or later! Just wait him out!!

That's 95% of a young dog Danny. Waiting them out. He'll eventually get the picture. I like to walk em a little so it feels like I'm getting my exercise!
