Canadian kennel club non-breeding contract

Hi

I posted this to the hunting retriever forum also

I hope somebody can answer this question. I am looking at buying a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever out of Canada. The dog would be CKC registered but purchased on a non-breeding contract. The AKC will not register such dogs. Would the dog be UKC registerable? If so what do I need to do in preparation? Thanks

Ned

You bought the dog knowing it was not to be bred, correct? Then you should not try to circumvent the breeder's wishes.

I was not interested in breeding the dog or circumventing the breeder's wishes. I simply wanted to know if I could get papers for it in the States. I would like to have something from a US based entity that says "this is a purebred dog" not just the Canadian club papers.

I have yet to buy the dog. I am wanting to know if it can be registered with the UKC. If I can't get some kind of registry in the States I simply won't buy the dog. So is their a restricted registry or some thing like that under which the UKC would register the animal?

Thanks

Ned

Yes it can be registered, Ned. Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Just should not be bred.
